Brent uses this launch pad to uncover where the city is now, in present day, modern, South Africa. With his team in tow, Brent gets a first hand taste of the fun (and the sand) that can now be had on abandoned mine dumps, with a board strapped to your feet, discovers the dark history and revels in the bright future.

At first glance, barren desert and dry veldt meet the eye, yet upon deeper investigation South Africa's north-eastern region reveals a milieu of culture, tastes and stories that embody the area perfectly. Brent and his team discover the origin of our species at the most unlikely of museums.

Brent and his crew head out to the culturally rich city and surrounds to discover just what exactly makes a modern day Afrikaaner in South Africa and the journey takes them to some unexpected places. From sampling traditional Afrikaans meals to experiencing the burgeoning craft beer phenomenon.

Brent and the team head out to explore the food side of this renowned city, examining the growing trends in a city that is ahead of the curve in South Africa and finding some heartfelt stories and situations along the way. From the community gardens that teach people the power of "growing your own" to the world's best coffee at Truth.

Brent and the team decide to get more pastoral on South Africa's West coast, trading up city life to head into the quite wilds of the Atlantic ocean-ringed coastline where life is just a little slower. Cold breezes and rainy days are accompanied by good beer, hearty company and meeting the original South Africans.

Brent and the team decide to delve a little deeper into this sometimes-overlooked citadel, heading into the parts of this Algoa Bay region that doesn't often see or experience a camera or television crew. Ably led by a son of Port Elizabeth and former political prisoner, Nelson Sebezela, Brent heads into the township of Ramaphosa to experience real road side food.

Brent and the team are the definition of avid. Heading up the Garden Route and moving towards the warmer Indian Ocean side of eastern South Africa sees Brent and the crew make their way into the multitude of little towns that adorn the coastline.

Brent and the team head up into this massive nothingness to discover just what exactly is out there and do they find plenty. The mountain ranges hide oasis's replete with streams, lush vegetation and waterfalls that almost demand a swim and, as the crew discover, towns like Oudtshoorn and Matjiesfontein offer up experiences like nowhere else in the country.

Brent and the crew get spoilt for choice in this diverse area of the country and get to sample the best that the towns of Knysna and Sedgefield have to offer. Brent gets involved with the local fare at the Sedgefield market, getting to sample authentic South African dishes for the first time and getting to see what the local artisanal and produce markets.

Brent and the team head out to prove just that. Staying in Knysna Brent gets a chance to examine how a European bakery made a mark, burnt down and then rose from the ashes again to satiate the community's love of properly prepared baked goods that would rather be made with the right care then not be made at all.

Brent and the team travel to what is known as the Panorama Route, and the name makes complete sense when they discover what is on offer in the region. From the majestic views from God's Window that allow for miles and miles of views over the Kruger National Park, to the natural wonderful oddities of the Bourke's Luck Potholes.

Brent and his team explore the food, and the people behind the food, at the Sabi Sabi Earth Lodge, engaging in what makes for a fine dining experience out in the wild. The next day sees the team head out to a school and safe space for the children of the surrounding impoverished areas and how they are providing a better future for the youth of the community.
