In the series premiere, Kevin O'Neil is arrested after the suspicious death of his wealthy wife. With money as the motive, Kevin appears guilty of bludgeoning her and throwing her in the couple's swimming pool, but he insists he is innocent and hires TNT&G to battle a grandstanding district attorney who manipulates public opinion.

When a young woman, Ann Diggs, admits killing a prominent music producer, Tom believes her claim of self-defense, convincing Ron to take the case pro bono. Always the schemer, Ron plans to capitalize on book and movie rights to the story, and he subtly collects payment from well-known men who had previously dated Ann, in return for keeping their connection to the case out of the media spotlight.

When Jake Garcia, a bartender at an Orange County establishment that Ron owns, is accused of murdering a woman who disappeared on the eve of her wedding to a wealthy man, TNT&G takes the case, despite the fact that the police--along with the media and public--assume there are no other suspects. But Ron isn't used to working outside of Los Angeles.

The firm agrees to defend 18-year-old Molly Larusa, a recovering drug addict who has been accused of pushing her boyfriend off a balcony to his death at their high-class rehabilitation center. Because Tom is friends with Molly and her father, he plans to be the lead attorney in court, as usual. But as the investigation progresses, Ron discovers that Tom's personal investment jeopardizes the case.

A troubled 14-year-old girl, Mary Nicks (MAKENZIE VEGA), and her family lawyer hire TNT&G to sue a beloved theme park company for wrongful death after Mary's working-class mother is killed on a rollercoaster. Upon learning that his former law-school classmate and longtime nemesis is handling the defense for the theme park, Ron eagerly decides to try the case himself, which he rarely does.

The law firm of Trott, Nicholson, Tuller & Graves represents a teenager who is accused of the ritualistic killing of a school bully. But as the evidence unfolds, the attorneys begin to suspect that their outcast client really is guilty of murder.

When the son of millionaire Regina Stack (ROBIN BARTLETT) is killed in a small-engine airplane crash along with his girlfriend, the firm of Trott, Nicholson, Tuller & Graves represents the girl's grieving mother and father. The blue-collar parents file a wrongful death suit against the wealthy matriarch, who they believe is covering up the real cause of the crash.

When an Internet billionaire's wife disappears from an anchored yacht and is subsequently found dead, Trott, Nicholson, Tuller & Graves must prove that their client did not feed her to the sharks.

Tom rallies the Trott, Nicholson, Tuller & Graves lawyers to represent their building's parking attendant after his wife is found shot to death in their trailer home--with only the attendant's fingerprints on the gun.

Trott, Nicholson, Tuller & Graves defends Ron's former lover, Karen Patterson, who claims self-defense in the death of her teenage son. When Ron learns that the 17-year-old was abusing Karen, who married Ron's best friend, the case becomes much more than professional for him.

Luther defends a man, Joshua Mortin (MYKELTI WILLIAMSON), who is accused of murdering his landlord. But Luther questions his faith in the legal system because, as a district attorney, 15 years ago, he was the one who successfully prosecuted and convicted Joshua on a murder charge.

At the same time as the Trott, Nicholson, Tuller & Graves Christmas party is going on, Tom is in court defending a young undergraduate accused of murdering a taxi driver. Luther works from inside the TNT&G data center, feeding advice and information to Tom as he tries the case. Meanwhile, Alden and Ron get caught up in a family drama when Alden finds an abandoned infant on her desk.

When a 15-year-old girl, Jenny Marshall, is detained by the police following the death of a 6-year-old boy whom she was babysitting, Ron and the team must battle their way into the interrogation room with court orders.
