Two teams of eight compete in culinary challenges; the first competition pits them against each other to create a menu for the chef to judge by the end of day.

The teams reveal the name and look of their restaurant, and each team must host a private party for a fashion designer.

Each team has to create a dish in one hour for Marco; the teams are surprised to learn that every single diner rated their restaurant with a Zagat rating form.

The remaining teams must prepare a dish using aphrodisiac ingredients; a famous sommelier tells the winning team how to pair wine with food.

The contestants must serve dishes to Italian customers, including Vincent Pastore, Federico Castelluccio and Mario Batali.

The final three teams compete to impress Marco and the diners by re-creating one of Marco's signature dishes.

The remaining teams are asked to cater an event for food critic Danyelle Freeman and uptown socialites; the teams must completely remake their restaurant in three days.

The final two couples compete; opening night is filled with celebrities; a winner is determined.
