The Neighbors

Music journalist Peter and his teacher girlfriend Eva buy a house on the outskirts of Amsterdam and meet their friendly new neighbors, Steef and Rebecca. But before moving in, events overtake them.

Eva and Peter struggle to cope with their grief, but Rebecca and Steef turn out to be just what the doctor ordered -- fun new friends whose door is always open, until Peter sees another couple arrive at their house.

Peter and Eva begin to look to the future at last, but Rebecca and Steef have an awkward surprise in store for their new neighbors when they casually mention that they have a hobby: swinging.

Steef gets entangled in the criminal world, tension grows between Peter and Eva, and Jasper's gossip has an effect on Rebecca. Steef invites Peter and Eva to join him and Rebecca for a weekend getaway.

Sexual tension between the two couples reaches fever pitch when they embark on their weekend away. Eva has a secret plan of her own, while Jasper takes full advantage of his neighbors' absence.

Eva is pregnant but to safeguard her secret, she must persuade Peter to sleep with her. Rebecca gets a shock when she calls the bank and decides to follow Steef. Lilly discovers Jasper's dirty secret.

When Steef confesses that he's being blackmailed, Rebecca swallows her pride and asks Jasper and Lilly for a loan. Peter knows that Eva is pregnant but can't understand why she's keeping it a secret.

Eva is feeling isolated as Peter remains aloof, so she returns to her family home and seeks her father's blessing to have the baby. Meanwhile, Rebecca makes a discovery in Lilly and Jasper’s garage and confronts him about it.

Eva confesses to Peter that Steef is the father of her baby. Steef's lies at home and at work catch up with him, and Rebecca can't forgive his years of deception. Rebecca confronts Lilly and Jasper.

When Eva writes Peter a note telling him their relationship is over, he is pushed to his breaking point. A frightened Rebecca and Steef try to intervene, but the past is rapidly catching up with the neighbors.
