Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May go all rural as they harness a group of high-tech tractors and attempt to grow their own petrol. The Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 dances with the devil on the test track, Jeremy discovers what happens when a locomotive hits a Renault Espace, and Kristin Scott Thomas is the Star in a Reasonably Priced Car.

Jeremy finds a touch of the night in the new Porsche 911 Turbo, the Stig tears up the track in an insanely-tuned Mercedes SL, and Richard and James make one small stumble for man as they attempt to build a working space shuttle out of a Reliant Robin. James May takes the Bugatti Veyron to Germany to see if it really can go faster than a Formula 1 car, Jeremy makes a public information film, all three hosts get thrown off a golf course in a riot of bad driving and appalling trousers as set out to find the best coupé. Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond travel to Florida in order to prove that a fly-drive holiday would be more fun if you bought a car instead of renting one. Having picked up some wheels for no more than $1,000 each, the boys embark on an epic road trip to find out who got the best deal, encountering heat, flies and some very angry locals along the way.
