The Indian Doctor

The Sharmas anxiously await the arrival of Pushpa, Kamini’s judgmental mother, for an extended visit. An evangelical preacher hopes to win some converts in the village but struggles to control his wayward daughter, especially when she befriends young troublemaker Dan.

Dr. Sharma searches for Dan so he can treat him before it’s too late. As Prem tries to prevent an epidemic, he battles with Reverend Todd, who openly defies Prem and refuses to be vaccinated.

As Prem waits for a vaccination unit to arrive from Cardiff, Reverend Todd preaches that only God--not medicine--can help the villagers, and the community remains oblivious to the dangers of an outbreak.

With the town under quarantine, food and supplies are running low. Megan and Emlyn concoct a plan to obtain provisions from a nearby village, while Prem tries to track down the source of the outbreak.

Although reporters are assured that the smallpox outbreak is finally under control, Dr. Sharma remains doubtful that they have located the real source of the disease. When Verity’s lover confides in Prem, he begins a frantic search for Reverend Todd’s daughter.
