This recording was made in 1990 at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden in London, where the production of Ludwig van Beethoven's Fidelio was seen as a transfer from the Théatre de la Monnaie in Brussels. An honest production, superbly cast and sensitively conducted by Christoph Dohnányi - that was the unanimous verdict of the London press.
