The Indian Doctor

Dr. Prem Sharma and his wife, Kamini, arrive in Trefelin but struggle to adjust to life in the small Welsh mining town. Although mine manager Richard Sharpe tries to befriend the couple, Kamini is determined to leave the valley. When Dr. Sharma handles an emergency case, he becomes intrigued about the patient’s ailment.

Prem fields an emergency call for an unexpected patient, while Kamini tries to find her husband a job in London. Sharpe plots to steal the diary of Sharma’s predecessor out of the surgery.

When a local boy gets into trouble, Kamini becomes his main defender. As Megan helps Dr. Sharma translate the diary, they discover vital clues to the deteriorating health of the local miners.

In an effort to diagnose the miners’ health problems, Dr. Sharma arranges for an x-ray van to come to town. Turnout is poor at first, until the driver causes a real stir.

As the village prepares for the annual summer fete, Dr. Sharma gets ready to leave the village for good. But when Sharpe gets promoted, Megan pleads with the doctor to stay and fight for the miners.
