Cromford Mills in Derbyshire is the location for this week’s Antiques Roadshow, with a garden gnome and ancient chocolate exciting the experts. Hilary Kay is captivated by the small scrap of cloth that played a part in the capture of notorious Australian outlaw Ned Kelly. Mark Hill gambles on a greyhound-themed slot machine, while Will Farmer is impressed by a plate with a design by Picasso.

The roadshow is at Firstsite in Colchester, where treasures include a spin painting by Damien Hirst, a watch with a racy past and logbooks from the real-life Great Escape. Will Farmer meets a fellow mid-century design devotee and reveals an unlikely pair of Ikea chairs. Elsewhere, Ronnie Archer Morgan discovers one of the finest pole clubs from the Cook Islands, known as an 'akatara'.

The Roadshow returns to Pitzhanger Manor and Gallery in west London, where finds include a unique engagement ring, a note written by Oscar Wilde and an Olympic medal from the 1930s. Ronnie Archer-Morgan finds beautiful jewelry made by the Navajo people from the arid southwest of the United States, while Fuchsia Voremberg hears the story of one man’s journey to the icy wastes of Antarctica.

The Roadshow visits Thirlestane Castle in the Scottish Borders, where items include a Louis Vuitton packing case, a beautiful traveling clock and medals awarded to one of the airmen involved in the Dambusters bombing raid. Susan Rumfitt appraises a Scottish agate bangle, while Gordon Foster is intrigued to see a fighting knife that may date from the infamous massacre of Glencoe in 1692.

The Roadshow’s back at Cromford Mills where treasures include a collection of rare soccer shirts, a brooch found in a sock drawer and a quirky bird clock. Will Farmer enjoys greyhound figurine from one of Staffordshire’s best-known pottery studios, while Justin Croft discovers a rare 18th-century journal. Meanwhile, Frances Christie is intrigued to see a sketch by a world-famous ballet dancer.

At London’s Pitzhanger Manor, finds include a quirky 18th-century children’s book, a collection of vintage trainers and a WWII Battle of Britain flying helmet. Alastair Chandler comes across a unique pocket watch that symbolizes a family’s story on the eve of the Second World War, and Jon Baddeley is enthralled by the story behind a medal awarded to a suffragette.

Joanna Hardy delves into the mystery of a beautiful, jeweled brooch in the shape of a ballerina, while Dutch silver spoons are revealed to have a hidden meaning connected to the wartime resistance movement.
