Great Irish Journeys with Martha Kearney

Episode one takes viewers to the mountains, bogland and coast and introduces us to Du Noyer's work while visiting the picturesque landscape of Glendalough, Co Wicklow, the beauty of the Bog of Allen, Co Kildare, ending up at the Old Head of Kinsale, Co Cork.

In episode two, Irish-born Martha travels north and sees how the landscape has had a profound bearing on its history, taking in the extraordinary beauty of Dunluce Castle, Co Antrim, and onwards to Mussenden Temple, Co Londonderry. She also marvels at how Belfast was shaped by the Victorians and visits Kearney Point on the Ards Peninsula, Co Down.

Episode three visits places of power from ancient times through to the end of the Victorian period, including the remarkable site at New Grange, Co Meath, the Rock of Cashel, Co Tipperary and the magnificent Italianate style palazzo, Castletown House, Co Kildare.

In her final journey, Martha visits the Blasket Islands off the coast of Kerry and the islands of the Fermanagh Lakelands - White Island, Boa Island and the Station Island - a spiritual retreat for many over the centuries. Martha says that it has been fascinating to see the land through the eyes of Du Noyer, whose curiosity led him to explore Ireland's landscape, history, culture and people.
