New York, 1990s. Joanna is a young aspiring writer who gets a job in a literary agency as an assistant to Margaret, J.D. Salinger's representative. Among other tasks, she must answer the numerous letters sent by fans from all over the world to the author of "The Catcher in the Rye." Deviating from protocol, Joanna begins to personalize the answers.
