After Trent attempts to highlight Amber's hair, she realizes that it's time for a professional makeover. Meanwhile, Alex is suffering back pain and meets with doctors to determine if he needs surgery.

It's the last day of school and all are excited except Alex, who has a crush on his teacher. To stave off summer boredom, Trent and Amber take the kids on a vacation, but Jonah's attitude threatens to ruins everyone's fun.

The Johnstons' bathroom renovation leads to extra stress on both the family dynamics and Trent and Amber's relationship. Meanwhile, Emma works to overcome her shyness before cheerleading camp.

Amber's biological dad plans to visit for the first time in five years, and Amber is nervous. The family plans a yard sale, but Trent is too nostalgic and doesn't want to sell anything.

Amber heads to the beach with her adopted dad, Trent and the kids. A stop at her aunt's house raises questions about what her biological dad really thinks of her.

With summer coming to an end and school starting soon, Trent wants the family to have one more memory-making adventure. Against Amber's better judgment, the family heads out to go camping in August -- in Georgia.
