New Mexico State defeated DePaul by a score of 81-73. The game was an upset, as the Aggies were seeded twelfth and the Blue Demons were seeded fifth. New Mexico State was coached by Neil McCarthy, and De Paul was coached by Joey Meyer. New Mexico State would later lose to UCLA in the Sweet Sixteen round.
