In 1958 a law made brothels illegal in Italy. Adua, Lolita, Marilina and Millie are 4 prostitutes who pool their savings to open a restaurant. They buy a run-down building, but their permit is rejected because of their history of prostitution. One of their former customers agrees to buy the building, but he expects them to run the restaurant as a front and work in the brothel on the upper floors.
