You have to know how to take the initiative, when you're in love. That's something that Cedric's fully aware of! The day before, he'd run into Chen, who was very upset because her tape player had broken down. Without a moment's hesitation, he'd offered to fix it. His immediate reward was a broad and trusting smile from his little friend... All that remained for him to do was to fix it!

To celebrate Poppy's birthday - and to put an end to the daily arguments about what show to watch --, Robert offers a TV set to his father-in-law. Confined to his room with his new TV, Poppy feels cast off, and sulks, refusing to go downstairs for anything. Cedric decides to deal with Poppy's blues.

Nicholas shows off to the class his dazzling white teeth, the product of a descaling and, of course, regular brushing. Chen comments on his gorgeous smile, which of course makes Cedric jealous... and frightfully embarrassed. We learn why this is so a short time later, when his mother scolds him for not having brushed his teeth in a week!

When will Cedric manage to declare his love to Chen? In any case, he decides that's the last time he'll listen to the advice of his pal, Christian! In spite of his own continued failure with Caprice, Christian had insisted that all you have to do is wait for the right opportunity: a brief tête-à-tête, for example...

To attract Chen, Cedric thinks that he has to show a passionate interest in the same things as she does. That strategy works for Christian, who pretends to be interested in Caprice's track exploits... So Cedric sets about learning all there is to know about the violin, in order to become an authentic expert, and dazzle Chen!

That morning, Christian was passing near Chen's house on his way to school, when he saw something really strange: just when the little girl was coming out of her house, a car stopped in front of her, a man wearing a long cape came out of it, and, when he got back in the driver's seat, there was no more Chen on the sidewalk!

Cedric wonders if he and his Poppy aren't sometimes too much of a bother for his parents... This evening, after all, Robert and Mary Rose are in a great hurry to send Cedric and his grandpa off to bed: at last, they'll be able to spend some time together in a tête-à-tête! But their intimate moment doesn't last long.

Marvin has a sure-fire scheme for Cedric to win over Chen: he just has to do what the guy did in the movie that was on TV last night. The guy pretended that he was in love with another girl, and the one he really liked, jealous, fell into his arms. No sooner said than done!

Chen has to go away, and asks Cedric to take care of "Sweetheart", a little mouse belonging to her cousin. Cedric has to hide the mouse, because his parents are firmly against the presence of an animal in the house. Cedric, who at first finds the mouse a bother, then perceives that it bears a strong resemblance to the love of his life.

As part of an exchange program with the class, Harry arrives from Scotland to spend a week at... Chen's! Cedric is furious that he hadn't offered to put up the new kid, instead. Especially as this new kid, who turns out to be utterly charming, funny, and sweet, scores unanimous points with the girls. This is torture for Cedric, who is eaten up with jealousy!

Cedric dreamed that he became Chen's dance partner, so he could star on stage with her. What could possibly have gotten into him to think up an idea like that?! So be it: he trained with his inseparable buddy, Christian, to be Chen's partner. It's no easy task to become a ballet swan in a flash... The day of the audition, Cedric's solo is a catastrophe!

Cedric has at last decided to write a letter to Chen. She'll soon know the depth of his feelings and will answer. He already imagines the bliss he'll feel. But a misunderstanding provokes Chen's anger, and she refuses to see him anymore

Mr. Oliver organizes a weekend camping trip for the Kangaroo Braves. Cedric only accepted to take part in this outing because he thought that Chen would come, too. But Chen is sick. And Cedric is stuck in the group, forced to hike, to camp out, to sing - in a word, it's horrible

"I tell you, girls like to be surprised... They even like to be scared, a little..." Christian's affirmation, supported by some "solid" proof, sets Cedric on his course: he's going to surprise Chen and even frighten her a bit, to help their love blossom!

Cedric and Chen are perfectly in love... that goes without saying. But Cedric thinks it would be even better to say it! In other words, the time had come for him to declare his affection. What could be better than a one on one encounter in the park to achieve his objective? And it would have worked, had not every intimate meeting been interrupted by some third party!

Miss Nelly has a question for the class: what do the kids want to do when they grow up? "Flight attendant," answers Chen. Immediately, Cedric discovers his calling: he'll be an airline pilot! Still, though, Chen's idea starts to gnaw at him. If she's traveling all the time, who'll take care of him? Cedric is troubled, and asks Poppy for advice

Lawrence's parents are getting divorced. The teacher is very understanding with the boy, and all the girls, including Chen, make a constant fuss over him. Girls are weird - it almost seems as if they're particularly attracted to unhappy boys. So Cedric decides to make everyone believe that his parents no longer get along.

Poppy annoys the whole family with his old slippers that squeak. They move the date of his birthday forward, in order to offer him a new pair.But he doesn't like them. This foments a family feud, which blows up to such an extent that Poppy decides to leave home.

A costume party with a dance contest is planned at school. The theme is the Far West. Cedric alerts his mother too late for him to get a costume. A major problem arises. Poppy improvises an Indian getup for him.

One time, Cedric and Chen were almost separated forever. At least, that's what Cedric thought when he overheard a conversation between his parents and a mover. They were going to move! Cedric and Christian tried to figure out how to avoid this catastrophe, but it was Poppy who came up with the solution.

Cedric refuses to set the table, on the pretext that it's a girl's job. Poppy approves his position, while Mary Rose scolds the boy, citing Robert as an example. Cedric's father is always there to lend a hand, unlike Poppy, who, when he was young, was not very present, either as a husband or as a father!

Cedric has planned to take Chen to the country. No way that a bad report card is going to compromise this opportunity to at last declare his love. So Cedric hides the report card, which his parents soon discover. Not only does Cedric lose permission to go out, but he has to submit to a tedious lecture about all the great intangible moral principles: confidence, honesty, candor.

Cedric is once again the proud owner of a disastrous report card. It's so disastrous that Miss Nelly is even thinking of seating Cedric next to Nicholas, who could serve as a positive example. What an idea! In the meantime, Mary Rose has discovered an old box of souvenirs, and would like to organize a family evening of memories.

At the swimming pool with his class, Cedric is astounded to discover the Chen doesn't know how to swim. Mr. Oliver gives Chen a private course, which Cedric sabotages, convinced that the gym teacher is incompetent and that Chen is risking her life with him. As a result, Chen is furious with him and Cedric is thrown out of swimming class
