A young couple involved in a drag race smash their van into a tree at 75mph. New Orleans Drs. Hymel and Tesi are compassionate, but realize their city is addictive and good food, good wine and good times can lead to tragedy.

One of numerous nightly gun shot victims is treated in Trauma. Then a dirt bike wreck leaves a young man with no feeling below the waist, and Dr. McSwain spends his day off volunteering as medical director for the Jazz Fest.

A man is treated for a gun shot wound to the temple. A 21-year old is in a three-wheeler accident, and the next day his best friend totals his truck. The residents discuss young men and risk-taking behavior, and then enjoy a lively night out.

It's Friday the 13th. A man has been shot in the chest and taken to surgery. A 28-year-old arrives after being in a minor car accident, but suddenly starts vomiting and screaming. A three-year-old spilled hot soup on himself.
