It's 1927 in South Carolina. Grayson Livingston, hired by a bootlegging kingpin to murder Sheriff Henry Lloyd, is the center of a tragic mistake. Grayson takes refuge on a farm where he is discovered by the owner, Everett James (EJ) Sawyer. He is brought to meet EJ's wife Connie, and a relationship blooms -- but it soon leads them into danger. As Sheriff Lloyd hunts Grayson, no one is safe.
