Pure Fly NZ

The first episode of Pure Fly NZ sees two good mates Ronan Creane & Jeff Forsee heading off on a mission to explore the myriad of trout fishing options available on the beautiful West Coast of NZ's South Island. Camping on the beach, boat fishing the lakes and tramping into the backcountry this episode has it all!

The second episode of the new series sees NZ fly fishing champion Cory Scott & his good mate Chris Sharland venture deep into the East Cape for a challenging but ultimately rewarding multi-day rafting trip. Geographical isolation, thick bush, impassable gorges and a tiny local population combine to make the East Cape, in trout fishing parlance, one of the last true frontiers in New Zealand.

In this episode, Rene Vaz & Mike Wilkinson head into the deep south during the peak of Summer in the hope that the famously large brown trout of the region will have begun feeding heavily on willow grubs. In this action-packed episode they get to tackle some feisty browns in some particularly tight jungle country.

In this exciting episode, regular Pure Fly NZ angler Anto Hall teams up with Charles Smith for a mission into the Mackenzie Country in search of a canal monster. The team soon learn that fly fishing for these giant fish can be pretty darn tricky, and face an uphill battle as horrific Winter weather descends on the area, but it certainly makes for compelling viewing!

This episode picks things up where we left off last week, chasing an elusive 30lb + monster in the Mackenzie Country canals. It's a true test of fishing grit, as the team fish into the darkness and battle plummeting temperatures in their search for a donk!

Episode 06 follows best mates Andrew Harding & Matt Hince on a campervan tour of some of the North Island's best backcountry trout fishing. The guys use the campervan as base camp as they venture on day trips into steep, inaccessible gorges that hide great trout fishing in crystal clear creeks. There's action a plenty, and as usual with these two characters, a lot of laughs!

A strange phenomena occurs in the forests of New Zealand's South Island when there is a beech tree masting. Mice feed heavily on the fallen seeds, which leads to a population explosion. The trout feed heavily on mice that enter the water, resulting in huge trout! We join Anto Hall and Nick Geddes as they search for these mysterious fish and Anto manages to catch the largest trout of his life!

Fly fishing couple, Hannah Clement & Tom Hodge are hitting the Tongariro during the winter spawning run of rainbow trout from Lake Taupo. But the weather throws a spanner in the works as a huge cold front hits the area and causes a mighty flood. But as the flood recedes thousands of trout begin to run the river and there is no stop action as the river lives up to it's reputation!
