Honey's boyfriend, Max Sutton, is offered an exciting new teaching job far away from home. He proposes to Honey, who he wants to go with him. Honey accepts...pending her sons' approval.

Hub and Fat struggle to adjust to Max as their stepfather. When Max's gregarious brother, Del, comes to town, more controversy ensues.

Grace Bailey disguises herself as a New York advice columnist, "Dr. Veronica Love," to fill airtime on her radio program. Dr. Love becomes an instant hit with the women of New Bedford. Things go wrong when Grace's own admirers start calling in to the radio show looking for relationship tips!

An old silver prospector, Leo McGinty, moves back to New Bedford. Hijinks ensues as Grace tries to find out if Leo was her mother's old flame. Meanwhile, Leo's granddaughter, Maisey, struggles to fit in with the kids in town.

Toppy returns to New Bedford to ask her husband, Bob, for a divorce. Meanwhile desperate cost saving measures at the Bailey's mine result in a tragic accident, bringing the Bailey's future and that of the entire town into question.

Honey's brother, Joe, returns to New Bedford as a promoter for The World Wrestling Tour. Everyone in New Bedford is eager to bet on the incumbent, but Hub and Fat Bailey are for the underdog wrestler. Del becomes suspicious Joe has an ulterior motive. Things go south and Joe has to prove what he really stands for.

Honey announces that she and Max are expecting a baby. The news is met with different reactions from various members of the Bailey family.

Max plans a "Career Day" to keep the students motivated at school, while Fat and Maisey investigate a local murder mystery.

Grace becomes the new Station Manager at CRNB radio. She adds a new detective series "The Adventures of Sam Chang" into the program, which becomes a fast hit. Despite her early success, politics with the station owners ensue.

Fat is convinced that the New Bedford hotel is haunted by the ghost of "Gap-Tooth Peggy" and works with Maisey to look for evidence. Meanwhile, Grace must reckon with the fact that she's not in love with Ollie anymore and break the truth to him.

Leo introduces May to Hugo Gerrard and his son, Luc, who are interested in buying some of the Bailey mine's surrounding property. Meanwhile, Max discovers iron ore deposits that could be good for the Bailey's struggling business.

May tries to keep the severity of her heart condition under wraps. When she suffers a serious heart attack, Dr. Barlow orders her to undertake indefinite bedrest. Things aren't going well with the business and May feels threatened by her family members, who she suspects are plotting to undermine her in her weakened state.

May is planning to sell the mine, given the struggling business. While she and Honey are clearing out the mine office, Honey goes into labour. She and May are stranded when May's car won't start! Despite being weakened by her heart condition, May summons all her fortitude to save the day.
