American Rehab: Charleston

Shalina Joy commits to a massive restoration on a Mediterranean Revival home in Newark, New Jersey. With the floors of the main suite collapsing beneath her feet, she must give it her all, but she may be in over her head.

Shalina takes on the dreary and dated living room. However, years of bad renovations and a brick beast of a fireplace could keep her from bringing the room back to its former elegant glory.

Shalina turns her attention to the front exterior, which needs a massive facelift. Later, she works to transform the backyard's swampy pool.

Shalina faces a colossal challenge when she works to make the cramped, outdated kitchen a space her family can enjoy. She tears away layers of past renovations only to find crumbling plaster, holes in the ceiling and walls ready to collapse.

Shalina has her hands full with a backyard filled with dangerous, illegal structures, crumbling steps and an overgrown jungle. Using creative ingenuity and old-school methods, she wrangles the mess into a beautiful living space.

Shalina must tackle one final space, her dining room, but money's tight and time is running out. It's all hands on deck as she and her crew make the room shine just in time to welcome friends and family for an open house.
