Everybody Hates Chris

When Chris's parents decide to bus him to an all white school in Brooklyn Beach, he must learn to deal with new surroundings, new friends, and new enemies.

A rumor that Chris beat up Caruso, the school bully, speads like rapid fire through his new school. There are consequences when the school principal finds outs. When the family grocery budget gets tight, Julius tries to help out by buying a crate of sausage from street vendors. Rochelle must then come up with new and interesting ways to serve sausage.

When Drew gets a bad grade on his math test, Rochelle recruits Chris's big crush, Keisha, to tutor him. Mistaking Keisha's mother for Rochelle, Julius experiences an awkward sexual moment with his neighbor.

Thinking he must be a great player just because he's black, Chris gets recruited to the school basketball team even though he really can't play. The new found attention puts a strain on Chris's relationship with Greg. To bring in extra money Julius & Rochelle rent out their upstairs room, but Rochelle soon becomes suspicious of their new tenant.

Chris gets some relief from the area thugs when he is befriended by Fat Mike, one of the cooler kids in their neighborhood. Things go array when Fat Mike disappears with Chris's bike. Julius's union goes on strike so Rochelle must get work to make ends meet. Rochelle becomes jealous when Julius seems better at being a homemaker than she is.

To escape the wrath of his trouble-making, little sister Tanya, Chris spends time at Greg's house after school without his parents permission.

Chris's plans to attend Lisa's big Halloween party are threatened when his mother makes him take Drew and Tanya trick-or-treating. Rochelle and Julius get ready for their first Halloween in their new Bedstuy neighborhood.

When Julius and Rochelle decide to have a "date night" they hire a babysitter to watch Chris and the kids.

Chris must endure a day at the local laundromat with Drew and Tonya in tow. Julius and Rochelle go shopping for a new TV for their home.

When Julius finds two hundred dollars' worth of food stamps, a prideful Rochelle reluctantly uses them to buy food for the family. Chris & Greg team up for a school science project until they discover they have very different ideas about what a good project really is.

Chris learns the value of a dollar when he must find a way to earn money to buy the leather jacket he so desperately wants. When their school gets shut down due to paint poisoning, Tanya and Drew pass the time at home by engaging in a bad game of "I Dare You".

When the water heater breaks in their house, Julius and Rochelle must tell Chris he won't be getting a Christmas gift. Tanya finds out there is no Santa Clause.

Chris must come up with the perfect outfit for his school pictures. When Tanya's picture day school shoes come up missing, she suspects Drew as the culprit.

Chris deals with his first Valentine's Day at his new school and develops his first "bus crush". Meanwhile, Julius and Rochelle must deal with the unexpected Valentine's Day attention Tanya and Drew are getting.

At the neighborhood corner store, Chris claims the title as Asteroids Champ until he meets his match. Meanwhile, Julius and Rochelle decide to cut back on their favorite guilty pleasures, to save money, only to send each of them searching for a "fix".

When Chris gets an F on his report card, he resorts to desperate measures to hide it from Rochelle and Julius. While at home sick, Julius re-discovers his passion for the soaps.

When Rochelle's father dies unexpectedly during a visit, she tries to hide her pain by acting as if nothing has happened. Chris notices the change in his mother and stands up for her. Meanwhile, Julius resorts to working overtime and Tanya is worried he's working too much.

Tired of Drew being the best at everything, Chris decides enough is enough and convinces Julius and Rochelle, against their better judgment, to enroll him in Karate class. After witnessing Tonya's near 3rd degree burns from Rochelle pressing her hair, Julius agrees to pay for the salon, but Tanya gets more than a pretty do, she gets a lesson in gossiping.

Chris finds a Playboy magazine in Julius's toolbox and takes it to school. But when the magazine is taken from his possession, he finds himself in a fury trying to find it. Meanwhile, when Julius finds out Rochelle is hiding money from him, she is forced to explain.

In celebration of Father's Day, Julius tells the family he wants a day to himself. Rochelle is upset but agrees to take the kids out for the day. But a determined Chris, convinces Rochelle to let him go shopping for a gift for Julius.

When Mrs. Morello, announces the class is participating in a school-wide cookie sale competition for a trip to Washington, Chris immediately panics- knowing it's hard to sell door to door in his neighborhood. Meanwhile, Julius surprises Rochelle with tickets to see Dreamgirls for their anniversary, but when Drew and Tanya get sick with the chicken pox their plans are changed.

Fed up with getting a daily butt kicking, Chris asks Julius and Rochelle if he can attend the neighborhood school, but when they deny his request, he takes matters into his own hands. Meanwhile, Julius is stinking everyone out of the house, when he's offered a new job at a fish market.
