Koharu loses her husband Shin in an accident and raises two children alone. Working multiple jobs, she still struggles. When she seeks welfare, she is denied for not meeting the conditions. Asked about relatives, she says she has none. Her father died, and she cut ties with her mother, who left her 20 years ago. Yet her mother now offers help, and Koharu decides to meet her. ©NIPPON TV

Koharu's neighbor calls the child guidance center after noticing that Koharu's kids spend time alone every night. Koharu decides to leave her kids with Yuki, who lives in the countryside, for a while.

Koharu goes to pick up Nozomi, who got lost trying to return to Tokyo. There she meets Shiori, who calls her "sister," leaving Koharu unsure how to respond. Later, Kentaro offers to watch the children while Koharu works. She accepts, but when Sachi returns home she treats them coldly. At dinner, tensions rise, and Koharu and Sachi argue. ©NIPPON TV

Daycare staff warn Koharu that quiet Riku may have a speech delay. Learning he likes dogs, she takes him and Nozomi to a park, but he shows little interest. One night she finds him crying and murmuring "Bun." He leads them to a lost dog poster, revealing his feelings. Meanwhile Shiori fears Sachi's concern for Koharu and confesses a secret tied to Shin's death. ©NIPPON TV

Tests reveal Koharu has aplastic anemia. Doctors urge treatment, but she cannot stop working and tells no one, trying to stay cheerful for her children. When an air conditioner arrives at her apartment, she thinks Kentaro sent it, but learns it may be from Sachi. As symptoms appear and fear grows, Koharu makes a decision and takes Nozomi and Riku to the Uesugi home. ©NIPPON TV

Without telling her mother about the illness, Koharu, aware of the deterioration of her own medical condition, asks her mother to live with her and her kids. However, the mother stubbornly refuses.

Koharu takes Nozomi and Riku to Shin's mountain village hometown. At a souvenir shop she receives a letter Shin wrote four years earlier. He had visited the village the day of his accident. The letter reveals his childhood, memories of his mother, the secret of the orange scarf, and the real reason he visited the Uesugi home. ©NIPPON TV

Learning what Shiori did to Shin, Koharu is shaken and decides to leave the Uesugi home. Sachi struggles between her daughters. Unaware, Nozomi and Riku look forward to the town's summer festival. For their sake, Koharu stays until it ends. Meanwhile, Shiori tells Kentaro she wants to leave home. ©NIPPON TV

When Koharu is hospitalized, her mother secretly undergoes an aptitude test to become Koharu's donor. Meanwhile, Koharu's stepfather learns that Koharu is ill and that Shiori is deeply involved with Shin's death.

Nozomi senses something is wrong with Koharu. Koharu wants to hide her illness to spare her pain, but Nozomi seeks the truth and goes to the hospital to see if Koharu is there. Meanwhile Sachi searches for missing Shiori. At the same time, Shiori spots in town the man who pushed Shin onto the tracks. ©NIPPON TV

One morning Koharu, Nozomi, Riku, Sachi, and Kentaro enjoy a normal breakfast, but Sachi and Kentaro are tense regarding Shiori's bone marrow test result. Koharu tells Sachi she cannot accept a transplant even if Shiori is a match. Then Yuki arrives with a box containing Shin's belongings that she had kept in storage. ©NIPPON TV
