We re-join our unconventional hero Kieren Walker keeping his head firmly down in Roarton. When hardline Pro-Living MP Maxine Martin erupts into the village, Kieren's instinct is to flee. However, he is overjoyed when his best friend Amy Dyer returns home with a mysterious ULA stranger, Simon, in tow.

Kieren's dreams of escape are left in tatters when MP Maxine imposes an undead travel ban on Roarton, along with stringent measures for PDS sufferers to pay back their debt to society. Meanwhile, Kieren's ex-HVF sister Jem has returned to school. She feels completely alienated until she's revealed to be a war hero.

Sparks fly when Kieren spends time alone with Simon. He can't help but follow his heart, despite the risk of hurting Amy. Meanwhile, PDS Sufferer Freddie Preston struggles with the notion of till death do us part when he tries to win back his ex-wife Haley.

A tense Sunday lunch at the Walkers prompts Kieren to make a confession which sends shockwaves round the family and astounds Simon. When Philip goes head-to-head with Maxine, she orchestrates his very public fall from grace. However, he receives a silver lining from an unexpected source.

Kieren is put under house arrest by the increasingly tyrannical parish council and is disappointed by his parents' reactions. Worse still, he discovers Simon is missing. We follow Simon to the city where we delve into his troubled past and learn the dangerous truth about his mission in Roarton.

The net closes in on Kieren in the series climax: Simon believes he's the key to a Second Rising and Gary thinks he's an extremist planning a Blue Oblivion attack on Roarton. As Kieren faces up to his darkest fears, his family and friends are also placed in terrible danger.
