Swallow the Sun

In Swallow the Sun's heartwrenching series premiere, rebellious Il Hwan is imprisoned and plots his escape, but initially fails to succeed after being chased by vengeful soldiers. He is subsequently rescued by Mi Yeon, a kind person who cares for him after his ordeal.

The series returns with a second episode, revolving around Jung Woo's harsh trials at the threatening hands of Min Ho, who threatens to kill him for trespassing. Shortly after this ordeal, Jung Woo travels to Seoul to live with Min Ho's son.

Min Ho's son, Tae Hyuk, has developed an interest in Soo Hyun and convinces his companion, Jung Woo, to find information about the girl. Jung Woo soon discovers Soo Hyun's musical prowess when he finds her expertly practicing her cello.

Jung Woo picks Soo Hyun up from the airport, where she emotionally asks to visit the graves of her parents. Meanwhile, Tae Hyuk's argument with a friend quickly escalates into a physical brawl, ending in the friend's accidental death.

Jung Woo rescues a man named Jackson when he is beaten up and tossed into dangerous waters. After the rescue, Jung Woo is arrested and sentenced to a year and a half of harsh prison time, and the beautiful Soo Hyun leaves the country to study abroad.

Soo Chang assures Jung Woo that he does not need to know about the troublesome man named Il Hwan. As Soo Hyun enjoys her birthday at the circus, she becomes inspired by the entertainment.

Min Ho is advised by Kang Hyun about the threat that Soo Chang poses for him. A letter containing Jung Woo's address information is found on a character's dead body, and he is soon tossed into a big predicament when he becomes a murder suspect.

Jackson takes Jung Woo and his companions to an infamously sinful city so they can work as security guards. Shortly after his arrival, Jung Woo defends Soo Hyun from a potential disaster.

Jung Woo confesses his vengeful thoughts about Tae Hyuk's father as he still feels hurt about Min Ho's apparent betrayal. Soo Hyun is succeeding in school and receives great praise for her project.

Inspector Hyun wonders if Kang and Kim are the same person. Jung Woo is encouraged to give up the rescue operation but he tries to obtain Jimmy's help with the mission.

Jung Woo tells the object of his affection, Soo Hyun, about his traumatizing past. The class differences between the two divides them and Jung Woo is more upset about it than ever. Jung Woo wants to be good enough for Soo Hyun, and he leaves a note for her explaining his predicament.

Jung Woo finding out about the true identity of his father leads to the deterioration of his own mental stability. Sae Hoon and Jung Woo's zesty romance heats up in spite of Jung Woo's stressful discovery. Sae Hoon tries to become a better student and works harder at her academics.

Much to Sae Hoon's discontent, she and Jung Woo break up and she goes to a bar to drown her sorrows in alcohol. She meets up with the persistent Tae Hyuk and he takes her home after she gets drunk. Jung Woo is getting a new apartment and Kang Rae and Jackson hang out.

One of the main characters wins some big money at the casino, much to the ire of his friends. Meanwhile, in true East of Eden fashion, Jung Woo is still set on getting his revenge, and Sae Hoon can only watch as it begins to utterly consume her ex-lover's soul.

After Min Ho reveals his own past as a head gangster to Jang Woo, Jang Woo suspects that he trusts him more than Tae Hyuk. Min Ho asks Jang Woo to kill a person who is very close to him. Sil Jang finds out that Sun Young has been leaking information.

Jung Woo is reminded of his promise to win approval and is asked to perform a big task to prove his loyalty. Su Hyun is angered when she learns the police are no longer investigating the murder of her parents due to Jung Woo’s request.

Jung Woo works with Jackson to destroy Min Ho. Tae Hyuk is no longer trusted by his own father. Jung Woo still does not know the truth about his mother, and Sun Young continues to feed information to a shadowy source. All is not well in this East of Eden-esque world.

President Kang learns that a woman he loved in Vietnam has a son and he asks Mr. Han for his assistance in locating the man. Tae Hyuk comes under attack for losing an important business deal to Macao.

Min Ho becomes suspicious of the shadowy Si Jang, and he ends up replacing the man with the reluctant main character, Jung Woo. After a humiliating and predictable loss at the casino, Bong Chul is left with nothing to show for it.

Jung Woo ends up assisting the investigations against malevolent Min Ho. Tae Hyuk is stunned and very upset after Soo Hyun breaks some big news to him- Jung Woo is his brother!

Min Ho is soon released from custody due to the lack of evidence in his case. After this occurrence, Min Ho becomes progressively more worried that Si Jang is a danger to him. He tells Jung Woo to make sure that Si Jang is disposed of in an efficient manner.

Min Ho is eaten up by guilt after he hears the news that Jung Woo has been kidnapped by Si Jang, a villainous man with a profitable purpose. Jung Woo is freed after Min Ho comes to an agreement with Si Jang concerning his moneymaking casino.

Jackson has lost Mi Ran's trust and is thrown out of the casino. Meanwhile, Jung Woo comes to a horrifying discovery: Tae Hyuk is plotting with Si Jang to betray his own father.

Jackson wants to turn his fate around and decides that he wants to open a large gambling and resort company in the Jeju area. Jung Woo captures Si Jang and puts an end to his plot, delivering the villain to Min Ho himself.
