Utah put up quite a fight but the depth of coach Tubby Smith's Kentucky Wildcats combined with the Utes' inability to score in the game's waning moments proved too much. Kentucky beat Utah, 78-69, at the Alamodome in San Antonio. Final Four MVP Jeff Sheppard's remarkable play late in the second half sealed it for the Wildcats who take home their second national title in three years.
