The Book of Negroes

Eleven-year-old Aminata is stolen from Africa, enslaved and forced to endure a treacherous journey to America.

Aminata is forced to deflect the affections of the two men who own her and attempt to adjust to plantation life in the Carolinas.

When revolution breaks out in New York, Aminata seizes her chance and escapes to freedom in the haven of Canvas Town.

After the British defeat, Aminata begins registering black Loyalists in The Book of Negroes.

Aminata plans the journey back to Africa as racial tensions rise in Nova Scotia.

Once arriving in Africa, Aminata leaves the Loyalists to find her way back to her village.
