An outstanding film based on Leo Tolstoy's novel War and Peace. The film is set in a period that includes the battles in Europe in 1805 and Russia's Patriotic War against Napoleon (1812), and tells the lives of members of several noble families whose fates reflect the events of those years in a dramatic and often tragic way.
