The term “Dirt Every Day” was not always a Motor Trend show-it started as the name of Roadkill-style road trips that David Freiburger took with Rick Péwé long before the Motor Trend shows kicked off. This iPhone video from Route 66 features Freiburger explaining the history of DED.

Lucky Costa may be the on-camera guy for Hot Rod Garage and the sometimes-background guy on Roadkill, but he also works for a living. As in, by wrenching on cars even more. Here’s a look inside his own shop at a customer’s 1969 Chevy Chevelle and what Lucky’s doing to it.

Freiburger’s life is like a vintage Jeep wrecking yard. The editor of Roadkill.com and Roadkill magazine, Elana Scherr, has almost as many cars as host Freiburger (OK, not quite). One of her most well-known cars is a daily driven two-door 1969 Dodge Polara. In this episode, she pops the hood and shows off the ample trunk.

Hardcore Roadkill fans will remember this 1966 Buick Special convertible from a pre-Roadkill video wherein David Freiburger, Mike Finnegan, and Rick Péwé pulled the abandoned car from a back yard, made it run, and road tripped it from Phoenix to Los Angeles.

Roadkill host David Freiburger came from a career at Hot Rod magazine where he first hired now-Roadkill-editor Elana Scherr and still-Hot Rod-staffer Brandan Gillogly. Those two are the best of friends, and this Roadkill Extra gives you a look into their world as they go to lunch in a 1969 Dodge Polara and talk about commuting, project cars, and tacos.
