Wild Fish Wild Places

Deep in the middle of the Colombian Jungle lives a fish with such destructive fangs and teeth they have been named the "Vampire Fish." The Wild Fish Wild Places crew is travelling to La Macarena which is only accessible by plane, an old DC-3, to find the Payara which haunt the big jungle rivers of Colombia.

The team makes a long push up river in homemade canoes hollowed out from local trees. Exploring some new remote areas of the jungle fishery with a quick stop for catfish soup and potatoes, then on to where the Payara are ambushing prey in a steep rock canyon. They find the Payara and giant catfish species that are apex predators as well.

The border of Venezuela and Colombia on the Orinoco River boasts a myriad of Amazon Headwater Rivers. The Wild fish crew commissions a chief from a local tribe to take them upriver 4 hours to where they believe some of the biggest peacock bass in the country live. Bathing in the river at night with Piranha and Stingrays while sleeping in tents on the riverbank make this one crazy adventure.

The San Martin area of Argentina is famous for incredible trout fishing but the Wild Fish Wild Places crew is there in the fall when big Brown Trout are moving from the lakes up the rivers to spawn. Lakes and rivers are the target attempting to find staging trout just before winter hits.

The team moves camp to the Alumine River in search of rainbows and browns. BBQ lamb and traditional asado coupled with big trout on the fly! Finally the crew puts together the winning combo at Filawawoom lake for big browns.

The Northern part of Argentina close to the Bolivian border is full of crystal clear, boulder sewn rivers that look like great trout fishing BUT in these waters there is a fish so big and mean you have to use wire line and keep your fingers clear. The Golden Dorado are a fierce fish with a jaw like rock and teeth like razor blades that hunt a migration of fish called a Sabalo.

Once situated in the remote river camp on the Rio Dorado it's up to Denis and Dreu to sneak and cast to these spooky fish. Long accurate casts and long walks upriver to find fish is what it takes to be successful. Top water action and big streamers seems to be the ticket for these beasts.

The Yukon Territory in Canada is one of the most remote and beautiful places on earth. The Wild Fish Wild Places crew flies 180 miles interior from famous Whitehorse to chase fish. Getting dropped off by a Beaver float plane and left only to find their canoes have a Grizzly bear tooth hole in the bottom makes for an interesting trip.

The crew finds a river dumping into a lake and sets up shop for big lake trout. After the lake trout they make their way to a spot that is supposed to have big Bull Trout.

September in the far north means a few things, cold weather, unforgiving conditions and spawning lake trout. The crew makes their way to famous Lakers Unlimited on the 9th largest lake in North America, Lake Athabasca. When the lake trout start to make the migration to shallow water to spawn the action is unlike any other time of year.

The fall time period in Northern Canada triggers birds to migrate and fish to spawn and for those tough enough to endure it the fishing can be amazing. Denis and Dreu bundle up and tough it out chasing the lake trout and big pike as well.

When the fish get shallow this time of year the Big lakers move shallow which means you can catch them on a fly. Denis and Dreu figure out how to target big trout on the fly rods as well as the old tried and true method of trolling.

Giant cutthroat trout and a season wrap up! Season 6 was so big we couldn't show all of the footage. Denis takes you to his home waters of world famous Pyramid Lake to rip giant cutthroat trout and wrap up the season along with a few behind the scenes moments.
