Raising Whitley

Actress and comedienne Kym Whitley receives a life-changing call making her the guardian of a baby boy. Now, with the help of her close friends, they are raising her son Joshua together.

Kym and her friend, actress Caroline Rhea, resolve that you shouldn't advertise for nannies on Craigslist. Later, Kym takes her son for his first haircut, and a blowout between her and Joshua's father Rodney at the barbershop leaves her rattled.

After two years of caring for Joshua, Kym needs to get back in the dating game. Wanting to broaden her horizons, she decides to expand her dating pool to include men of other ethnicities; Kym's friends, Val and Stacey, accompany her on a "manhunt."

Kym flies her dad out for a visit, hoping he'll move to LA permanently. When the two take Joshua to the park, he quickly heads for the street, changing Kym's opinion on leashes for kids. Meanwhile, Wendell tries to keep Kym off the worst-dressed list.

Kym wants to throw a party for Joshua's second birthday, so with only one week to go, she enlists the village to help make this party happen. Meanwhile, tempers flare and threaten to derail the entire birthday bash when Val demands they buy a $500 cake.

Kym and "The Opinion" take Wendell up on his offer to have a girls' weekend in Palm Springs. The girls are skeptical of Wendell's ability to take care of Joshua while they detox and relax, but he rises to the occasion when Joshua gets sick on his watch.

After 20 years as friends, Rodney asks Kym on a date. He also asks Wendell for help picking out a gift. A nice dinner and jewelry? Harold and Val suspect that Rodney is up to something, and although Kym doesn't disagree, she worries that she likes it.

Rodney shocks Kym by asking if he can move in with her. Undecided, Kym weighs her friends' opinions during CPR class. Emotions flare with some adamantly against it and others for it. Will Kym help a friend in need or heed the warnings of the Village?

Actress, comedian and mom Kym Whitley is back with her son Joshua and her riotous group of friends she calls "The Village". As Kym plans her star-studded "40th" birthday party, she and Rodney struggle to adjust to their awkward living situation.

Kym starts making plans for Joshua's christening, but things get rocky at home when Kym's old flame comes for a visit with Rodney still under her roof.

Rodney is finally ready to move out, so Harold uses the opportunity to further "de-clutter" Kym's house by throwing a Village yard sale. Joshua makes waves at his first swimming lesson.

In Rodney's absence, Harold and the other men in the Village step up to take Joshua on his first camping trip. Kym nearly derails their male bonding time when she crashes the campsite.

Kym brings Joshua to her hometown of Cleveland, Ohio, for a trip down memory lane. Back in LA, Rodney reluctantly asks Wendell for help to revive his acting career.

Kym needs help with her chaotic life while filming a new sitcom, so she enlists Harold to get Joshua's new big-boy bed and plan Wendell's surprise party. The Village chips in to find Wendell a blind date for his big day.

The Village stages an intervention for Kym when her clutter issues grow out of control! Wendell finds out Rodney has a new girlfriend and shares the news with Kym.

Kym and Rodney's relationship comes to a head when Kym confronts him about his negativity. Wendell decides to use his amazing backstory to launch a public speaking career, but first he needs an agent.

Kym begins looking for preschools and takes Joshua to visit her friend La Toya Jackson to help cultivate his musical talent. Things take a dramatic turn when Kym receives an unexpected phone call from Joshua's birth mother.

Rodney returns to defend his falling out with Kym, who is dealing with the other man taking up her man space, Detroit Mike. After getting the surprising call from Joshua's birthmother, Kym must decide whether to allow her into Joshua's life.
