Steve West takes friend Peter Pi to Chama, New Mexico in early December to experience the annual elk migration, as thousands of elk move from the high elevations in the San Juan Mountains in southern Colorado into New Mexico's winter range.

With Peter Pi tagged out, Steve West focuses on patterning and hunting a massive old bull that was like a ghost. So they nicknamed him "Swayze" from the movie. Swayze proved a challenging adversary and it is a hunt Steve is not likely to ever forget.
