James Garner returns to his signature role, as the affable grifting gambler. BRET MAVERICK sees the king of cardsharps getting tied down and trying to play it respectable - almost! After winning a saloon in a high-stakes poker game, Bret sets down roots, and partners up with an upright ex-sheriff. But rogues win out, and Bret still schemes and stirs up trouble, despite the sheriff's best efforts.
