Fausta, a domestic worker, lives in a favela with her husband, João, a drunkard and abusive. At work, she has to endure her boss's demands, and at home, her husband breaks his leg and cheats on her with their neighbor, Coizinha. One day, Fausta meets Zé da Placa. Despite the age difference, the two develop a deep affection for each other, building a beautiful friendship.
