After blasting off a drunk tweet, Marnie is demoted to Assistant Field Director under her rival, Peyton. In her frustration, she hurls a bagel at a clock, accidentally summoning a Figment of Time (Figgy), who offers her the chance to revisit and change any moment in her life. Marnie eagerly takes the opportunity, hoping to realign her 20-year plan.

With the support of her lifelong best friend JJ and their Craigslist roommate Krickett, Marnie experiments with time travel, testing out different choices in hopes of creating her "Golden Branch." All she needs is her dream dog Gravy, her hot boyfriend Calvin, and the approval of her boss, Vivian.

After ignoring Figgy's time travel rules, Marnie impulsively skips ahead to what she thinks is her mayoral campaign-only to find that everything is different. It's not her campaign, and the world around her has drastically changed. Marnie must race around town, piecing together the events of the years she recklessly fast-forwarded through.

Trapped in a cosmic game of hide and seek with Time Dad, Figgy and Marnie leap into the timelines of Marnie's friends. There, Marnie uncovers what she's missed over the past few years, while Figgy gains a deeper understanding of the human world.

Figgy and Marnie are forced to part ways, leaving Marnie trapped in a time loop. As she faces the imminent time fracture, Marnie rides an emotional roller coaster while trying to mend her relationship with JJ.

JJ brainstorms ways to prevent the time fracture as Marnie continues to show physical signs of the time closing in on her. The two bond together to rally the gang to safety before the very fabric of time disintegrates.
