Portrait Artist of The Year

The first programme in the series Portrait Artist of The Year comes from Trafalgar Square London. Twenty one artists paint Actors Juliet Stevenson, Robert Lindsay and Alison Steadman in front of large crowds and against the clock.

The second programme in the series comes from Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum in Glasgow. Twenty one artists paint actors John Hannah and Sophie Turner and paralympian Michael Ke

This week the programme comes from the Royal Dublin Society. Twenty one finalists from Ireland paint actors Pauline McLynne and David Rawle and grime artist Lethal Bizzle.

Our four finalists take their portfolios to The Royal Academy to be appraised by our judges. They are sent to Paris for inspiration and to paint model and muse Sophie Dahl.

The final programme in the series from the National Portrait Gallery. The three judges are joined by National Portrait Gallery director Sandy Nairne to select an overall winner. The winner receives a 10,000 commission to paint author Hilary Mantel
