Young Cedric Errol and his widowed mother live in 1880s Brooklyn. Cedric's English grandfather, the Earl of Dorincourt, disowned his son for marrying an American but now sends for Cedric to come to England. Cedric wins over his grandfather and is accepted into the family as heir to the thrown. But, American Minna Tipton insists her son Tom is the rightful heir. Heartbroken, the earl accepts her claim, but Cedric's friends venture to prove Ms. Tipton's claim is false.
