In the fifth season premiere, when Max and Caroline learn that the block the diner is on is in danger of being demolished, the diner gang rallies to prevent the takeover.

When the shower in Max and Caroline’s apartment breaks, they get part-time jobs at the juice bar of a fancy gym and enjoy free use of the gym’s locker room.

When Caroline finds out her ex-boyfriend, Candy Andy (RYAN HANSEN), is engaged, she wonders if they should have stayed together.

Max and Caroline’s cupcake shop is boycotted after they refuse to sell cupcakes to an artist (guest star MICHAEL CYRIL CREIGHTON) who wants to put cocktail weenies in them.

Han insists the diner gang attends a mandatory night out in an “Escape Room Club,” but it seems Han has an ulterior motive.

Max is both puzzled and curious when the new guy she is dating is hesitant about intimacy because he is “not regular down there.” Sophie and Oleg struggle to get pregnant.

When Caroline’s grandmother (JUDITH ROBERTS) awakens from a coma with no knowledge of her family’s massive money scandal, Caroline attempts to keep the truth hidden.

Oleg’s cousin who plays professional basketball comes to town to play a game and gifts Max with two free tickets, but chaos ensues when the girls interfere with the game.

Max and the diner gang join forces in order to get Earl back on stage performing and playing his saxophone. JACKÉE HARRY guest stars as Ruby, a jazz club owner.

When Max reconnects with an old friend, Caroline feels jealous and attempts to try to make some new friends of her own.

Max and Caroline become “booth babes” to get into a gaming convention for free. Once there, they’re shocked to find Han’s friend has created video game characters based on them.

Caroline captures the attention of a Hollywood studio executive when she shares her riches-to-rags life story on stage at a storytelling night.

Max tags along with Caroline as she travels to Los Angeles to discuss making her riches-to-rags life story into a movie. While there, Max loses her luggage but finds a new crush.

In Hollywood, Caroline faces tough decisions about the movie. Max is spoiled by her new beau, Randy (ED QUINN), who sets up Caroline with a former studio mogul (GEORGE HAMILTON).

Max and Caroline lose Randy’s (recurring guest star ED QUINN) dog while pet-sitting, and risk their lives to find him.

In Hollywood, Caroline signs away the rights to her life story. Max is heartbroken when Randy (ED QUINN) breaks up with her via his therapist (JOHN MICHAEL HIGGINS).

The girls visit Caroline’s father (STEVEN WEBER) in prison to see him perform in a musical, and tell him their plan to convert their cupcake window into a dessert bar.

The girls want a larger space for the dessert bar, so Han sets them up with a real estate agent (CAMILLE CHEN) who has a crush on him. Randy (ED QUINN) surprises Max at the diner.

Hoping to get to know Max’s world better, her boyfriend Randy (ED QUINN) asks to spend a night at her apartment. Caroline works on getting a liquor license for the dessert bar.

Randy (ED QUINN) invites Max to a business dinner at a hip restaurant, and the eclectic cuisine does not sit well with Max.

Needing more space for their renovated dessert bar, Max and Caroline try to convince the brash owner of the pizza place next door (LISA LAMPANELLI) to rent them her back office.

In the season finale, Max and Caroline discover Han is in hot water with a gang after he amasses a substantial debt from gambling on women’s tennis and can’t pay it.
