It's mid-July in the city that never sleeps, and Sherry Cordial trying to cope with the mysterious death of her ex-husband, Phillip, only hours earlier. Two weeks later, on a cold summer morning, Sherry, her children, other family members and friends stage a mock funeral for the press. George, a news rat purposely persuaded to be on the scene waits in hiding for the exact photo op, to give him his story. As the day goes on, after an intense lunch with her sister, Chelsea, Sherry insists on returning to work, by playing the "show must go on" card.

Sherry begins her week nibbling on a piece of fresh home-baked (with her own hands) bread, while soaking in a hot tub, at her beautiful country home, just a short distance from the city. Everyone at work seems to want something from Sherry. She imposes on her board members by appointing her sister, Chelsea, Director of Merchandising. This helps Chelsea with her financial problems, and more.
