The Harbor: Aberdeen

Crown and Anchor landlady Jill Pirie and barmaid Val Morrison are throwing a party to celebrate a new milestone for the pub, the Skandi Inspector is edging its way through the narrow entrance for repairs, and Alan Cowper's son Scott and Norman Campbell's nephew Gary are now both boatmen.

A violent storm sweeps Aberdeen Harbor. As heavy seas batter the port, it seems the ferry may be defeated as she makes her approach, and the duty pilots have to decide if they should risk the elements to get things moving again. It's not much better out at sea, as fishing vessels deal with poor catches and atrocious weather.

Dive-support vessel, the Bibby Sapphire, heads out to the North Sea, revealing the hazardous job deep-sea swimmers face as they step out of their diving bell and onto the seabed. New recruit Gary Morris faces a daunting challenge as the boatmen bring in an unmanned barge from the bay, and Crown and Anchor barmaid Val Morrison tries to persuade locals to part with their money at a car-boot sale.

Aberdeen lorry driver Kenny Watson reveals that on the weekends, he hangs up his overalls to perform as a Country and Western singer. The divers on the Bibby Sapphire help install a new pipeline. At the harbor, thousands of gallons of fuel are unloaded from a huge tanker.

The Bibby Sapphire's cook, Jaime Pacia, provides a mini-tour of the ship's galley, while technician Nancy Orton reveals how explosive it can be taking food to the divers in their sealed chambers. Peter Ferguson is arranging the naming ceremony for a new boat, and Pakistan-born Ali Akbar is rapidly learning the ropes as a pilot in Aberdeen.

Princess Anne makes the Port Chaplain's day, while Val Morrison is the unofficial harbor queen as she opens a sandwich shop... and the barmaid's day gets even better when her favorite charity receives a windfall. Cameras follow a dredger as it digs up thousands of tons of muddy silt and a team effort brings a huge cargo ship into the harbor.
