One of the most spectacular activities of any visit to Switzerland is a trip up the Gornergrat mountain high above the village of Zermatt. To reach the top you take the highest outdoor train in Europe and you will be rewarded with an amazing mountain panorama all around you. Then we're going to walk down part of the lower slope for one of the most satisfying hikes in Switzerland.

Klein Matterhorn is the highest viewing platform in Europe that can be reached by cable car at 3883 meters, called Little Matterhorn because it's next to the more famous Matterhorn. On the way down you could do some walking from the lower level into Zermatt, a perfectly easy hike. We also go up to the Sunnegga Mountain high above Zermatt town by underground funicular, and walk down.

Zermatt is one of Switzerland's most popular visitor destination getting about 2 million visitors a year. We travel there by train on a scenic journey, then walk throughout the town, which is for pedestrians only...no cars allowed, making it very peaceful here. Surrounded by some the of tallest mountains in the Alps, Zermatt is a special place, and also has fine restaurants and excellent shops.

Locarno is a pretty little resort town along the shores of Lake Maggiore, in Switzerland but close to Italy. Our focus is the city of Locarno with its lovely streets and shops. We will take you on some walks through the narrow pedestrian lanes of the old town, show you the market, the waterfront, and take a short trip to charming Ascona, on the lakeshore.

You will be delighted by the blend of Swiss and Italian cultures in the Old Town of Lugano, and also in nearby attractions such as the lakefront hillside village of Gandria. You will discover special features about Lugano and the historic center of town, especially the arcades that go for many blocks lining both sides of the street with covered sidewalk areas, a peaceful environment.
