Survivors

99 percent of the population is dead, Abby has been kidnapped and Greg lies badly wounded - can things get any worse for the Family? Anya realises that they will need medical equipment to save Greg's life and she leads Al and Tom into a hospital. Once inside they face both the threat of disease from long dead bodies and a raging fire which is making the building unstable.

With Abby still missing and Greg recovering from his injuries, the Family are left scavenging for survival in the city. While Naj leaves graffiti messages for Abby, Tom steals supplies from other survivors. The Family learn that more people have been abducted like Abby and that the kidnappers bear the markings of a known pharmaceutical company.

Fifty-year-old cockney wide-boy Billy is a trader and opportunist, traversing the desolate roads of Britain in his well-stocked container lorry. Billy meets the Family on the road and hands over vital supplies. Surprised, but grateful for Billy's generosity, the Family decides to stay overnight in a cottage close by to help Abby recover from her terrifying ordeal at the Lab.

Tom and Greg are enslaved alongside dozens of others in Mr. Smithson's coal mine. Elsewhere, the Family are desperately tracking Billy, their only lead, across the country. Back at the mine, Greg formulates an escape plan. However the Family are converging on Smithson's as well with their own rescue plans, leading to a dangerous game of cat and mouse.

Reunited and on the road, the Family travel south on the look out for a new home. They encounter a small but thriving community of survivors and decide to take up their offer of hospitality. While Al and Sarah enjoy their new romance, Tom simmers as Anya makes friends with Judy, the community's leader. Meanwhile, Greg and Abby return to Greg's house one last time.

The fates of the Family, the Lab and the rest of the world come crashing together in a deadly showdown. The Family are in pursuit of Abby's son, Peter, who is in grave danger. The chase leads them to an airfield where the final confrontation takes place.
