Liam's in danger of being kicked out of Catholic school for denying the existence of God, so the school plans a home visit. Desperate for a solution, Debbie fabricates a lie that quickly snowballs out of control.

Lip gets close to new friend Jack, and even closer to Jack's sister, but when Ian starts his own relationship with Jack, the secrets revealed threaten to tear the brothers apart. Meanwhile, Kev's sister becomes a tenant at Sheila and Frank's place, until Frank discovers the business she's running out of her room.

Mandy Maguire gives birth early when she's shoved during a robbery at the shop, but Lip's barred access to his child by her thuggish family. While he hunts down the thief responsible to win over the Maguires, Kev gets a racing tip that he tries to keep under wraps.

Carol's revenge against Lillian puts the whole estate under the scrutiny of benefit fraud officers. Lip takes the opportunity to profit by advising people defrauding the council, but unbeknownst to him Carl's taking the opportunity to cozy up to Lip's new girlfriend.

Kev's birthday is ruined when he finds out his mother's chosen that very day to commit suicide. The funeral brings Kev's wife back into town, bringing Kev and Veronica's relationship to the brink of destruction.

Carl finds his calling growing weed for the Maguire's, much to Lip's horror. And when the Maguire's peg Carl as the snitch who landed their Mandy in jail, it's Lip who has to save his brother and free the mother of his child. Elsewhere, Sheila's delighted when she hears her Karen is a lesbian.

Debbie's sick of shouldering the household responsibilities, so she goes on strike and starts hanging out with kids her age. Frank makes money by taking part in a drug trial only to discover the pills prevent inebriation, and Marty finds out Sue is neck-deep in debt.

Construction in Sheila's yard digs up her dark secret: her garden's doubling as her first husband's grave. When she confesses to Frank, his paranoia threatens to halt the wedding and land Sheila behind bars-- but not before he and Veronica do a little grave robbing.
