The daughter of a US Senator is drawn to a charismatic missionary of a cult called The Children of Light, but the cult turns out to not be the free love community it presents itself as. The cult is led by The Divine One, cynical prophetess of universal free love, poverty, and equality. She dominates the cult's members by a strange admixture of sex, a phony sense of security, and terror.
