A young woman visits a publishing house in order to present a novel. The meeting with the publisher is the start of a love affair that makes him leave his wife. In the meantime her lover - a talented playwright - ends up at the emergency ward after overdosing on sleeping pills. The doctor treating him turns out to be the wife of the publisher - and a parallel love story unfolds. Four people's lives are interwoven and changed forever.
