Feature-length BBC comedy drama based on the memoirs of food writer and broadcaster Nigel Slater. In 1950s Wolverhampton, nine-year-old Nigel (Freddie Highmore) is left with his distant father (Ken Stott) and new housekeeper Joan Potter (Helena Bonham Carter) after the death of his adored mother (Victoria Hamilton).
