Brideshead Revisited

Early spring 1944. Army Captain Charles Ryder transports his company to brigade headquarters at a secret location. After an exhausting journey, they arrive at the new camp, Brideshead Castle, the site of bittersweet memories for Charles.

Charles is summoned to Brideshead Castle for a summer of enchantment with Sebastian.

Back in Oxford, attempts are made to curb Sebastian's excesses.

Charles tries to cover up for Sebastian's drinking, but Sebastian turns on him, accusing Charles of being a spy for his mother. Sebastian proves beyond help and leaves Oxford. Charles also leaves and chooses to study art abroad.

Charles and Sebastian both return to Brideshead for the New Year. Alcohol has been banned from the house. When Sebastian turns up drunk, Lady Marchmain blames Charles, who leaves, promising never to return.

Rex Mottram is convinced Charles is hiding the missing Sebastian.

As Lady Marchmain lies dying, Charles is persuaded to search for Sebastian.

Charles's thoughts turn to the past when Bridey commissions him to paint Marchmain House.

A storm in the Atlantic leaves Charles and Julia alone together aboard the ship.

Lord Marchmain returns to Brideshead and his presence throws the family into turmoil.

As Charles and Julia make plans for a future together, they are interrupted by Bridey.
