The Wordmaker

After giving a lecture, Dr. Ari Milus goes home to bed. Suddenly he wakes up back at the pub where he gave the lecture, unable to remember how he got there. Could he be sleepwalking again? He turns to family friend Dr. Michel Kugman for help.

Michel’s mysterious death sparks an investigation and sends Ari on a quest for the truth. Eli and Meir are torn about a sacred note. Sophie shows Ari a video of him as a boy being evaluated for sleepwalking. Is the past coming back to haunt them?

Ari discovers a mysterious ingredient in his blood and tracks down a farmer named Caspi, who tells him about the Wordmaker, Sophie’s father. Caspi tells Ari the Wordmaker was banished by Michel, Meir, and Ari’s father, Eli, 25 years ago.

When Ari’s father suspects he and Sophie are having an affair, Ari confesses that his sleep disorder might be back. In turn, Eli tells Ari the truth about his mother, their relationship with the Wordmaker, and Ari’s relationship with Sophie.

Ari decides to talk to the police, but is derailed when his father, Eli, is found in the cave where the Wordmaker used to lead prayers. Ari begins to suspect Sophie is behind Michel’s death, just as Leon learns about Sophie’s childhood trauma.

Ari follows Sophie to the remote home of an old man, who he identifies as Asher Lemlin, one of the attendees at his lecture. It’s revealed that Ari witnessed Sophie’s father abusing her as a teenager, and retaliated on her behalf.

The story about what really happened to the Wordmaker is revealed, but is it true? When Detective Leon accuses Sophie of the murders, Sophie drops a bombshell: she’s seen her father. Is the case solved? Nothing is as it seems.
