Natsume's Book of Friends (English Subtitled)

One day, Natsume finds a yokai named Kagejawan running around near his home, which he soon learns means disaster is about to strike. He then meets a yokai in the form of an old woman, who drags him unwittingly into further trouble...

A deadly yokai, long thought gone, reappears in the area. Natsume searches for a way to stop the beast, and meets another yokai named Sagume, who is searching for her brother. Natsume must find a way to deal with both yokai before any more damage is done.

Natsume runs into an old schoolmate, who remembers Natsume's claims of being able to see things. He asks Natsume to come with him and tell him if a girl he likes is actually human. Natsume assumes she is, but later finds out that might not be true...

Natsume and his friends celebrate the end of midterms with a trip out of town. While on the train, Natsume passes the town where he used to live, which causes him to reminisce about his early childhood.

Natsume and Tanuma help Taki clean out her family's storehouse, where they awaken a sleeping yokai. Natsume has to act fast to keep his friends safe and restore Taki's house to order.

Natsume unwittingly stumbles onto an injured yokai and discovers that someone has been stealing the blood of other local yokai. He doesn't want to get involved, until he discovers that the one responsible is a human...

In pursuit of the blood-stealing human, Natsume is captured and brought before the exorcist Seiji Matoba. Matoba wants to use yokai blood to unseal a powerful yokai, and Natsume escapes, looking for a way to put an end to his plans.

Natsume goes with Shigeru to visit a pottery workshop, where Natsume searches the nearby forest for an herb to heal the injured Nyanko-sensei. The fox child happens to live in the area, and he vows to reconnect with Natsume.

Natsume is confronted by a talking pebble, and Hinoe warns him of the possible danger. The pebble makes its way to his school, forcing Natsume to deal with the problem while trying to act normal around his fellow classmates.

While in the forest, Tanuma is struck in the eye by an unknown object. It seems to be yokai-related, and he begins acting strange and distant. Natsume tries to find out what happened, but soon finds himself under attack from a hammer-wielding yokai...

Tanuma has been possessed by a yokai searching for shards of a magical mirror. Natsume wants to help find them so the yokai will release Tanuma, but can't control his anger at her selfish actions and the danger she's put his friend in.

An encounter with a power-hungry yokai leaves Natsume poisoned and feverish. As he recovers, he reflects on his childhood, when he had to stay with a local family and encountered a terrifying yokai living in their house.

The day of the "Spirit Moon" has come, and all the local yokai have decided to throw a party in Natsume's honor. Natsume takes this chance to indulge in a part of childhood he never experienced when he was young, and grow closer to his yokai friends.
