Sharon and her friends start high school and ninth grade. Each of them is paired up with a senior mentor, and Sharon is matched with the most "unique" male in high school, Dion, an aspiring fashion designer. She must weigh the price of individuality v.s. popularity when challenged by Alden's mentor, Evie. Does she give up Dion as a friend so she can fit in?

When Sharon overhears some misleading information from Nina, she's convinced her friends are planning her a surprise party for her 14th birthday. When the party doesn't happen and a date with Alden is all she gets, she can't help but feel disappointed and hurt Alden's feelings in the process. Alden starts to wonder if he needs the pressure of being a "boyfriend" right now.

As Helen won't give Sharon 100 bucks for the ski trip, Sharon starts working at the mall, that's got a new owner, Bill. However, things aren't as easy as she imagined.

At Brock's advice, Alden starts hanging out with Tess, a cheerleader. Bothered by this, Sharon writes him an email, that unfortunately ends up on the school website. In turn, Alden breaks up with her.

Still depressed about the breakup, Sharon is willing to do anything to be noticed by Adam's friend, Tony.

Although Sharon is not invited to Alden's hockey game, she goes anyway. While Alden is flirting with a new girl, Marlo, Sharon would want to become friends with him but all she does is cause problems.

Sharon is followed around by a reporter and a cameraman from TV3 for a competition. She tries to appear someone else - someone popular - for the camera. Her friends help her lie her way out.

Sharon is getting ready for the fashion show, where she is Dion's model. She's also troubled by Nina's comments and starts dieting. When Harrison has a crush on Sharon, she is forced to lie since she's not attracted to him.

Maria thinks Sharon's grandpa is being racist toward Maria's new boyfriend, Cloud, who is Arab. Maria's too fond of Cloud to realize that he treats her bad.

After being saved by Alison's dad, who is a fireman, Connor approaches Alison and wishes to become her friend. Maria and Sharon use this as an opportunity to get back at Nina.

Despite Sharon's protests, Maria starts promoting sports clothing for a fashion company that uses dead animals. Connor looks after a baby.

Helen gives Sharon three days to find a good home for Lorenza, a stray dog she's found. After that, the dog has to go to the animal shelter. But finding Lorenza a home turns out to be more difficult than Sharon thought. The last person she wants to give the dog to is her enemy Nina - who seems intent on getting a dog just to impress Isaac. When Lorenza goes missing Sharon can't believe the help Nina offers and finally has to accept that there might be a side to Nina she doesn't know. When Lorenza is finally found Sharon admits that the dog might indeed be best off with Nina.In the meantime, Adam is also dealing with things he doesn't want to do - working as Maria's "butler" to raise money for the athletic council.

It's been a while since Sharon and Alden broke up, but Sharon wonders if Alden still has feelings for her. When their English teacher puts on a play and casts Sharon and Alden as the romantic leads (who kiss!) Sharon gets her opportunity to see if Alden still holds a torch for her. Could it be possible that they could make another go of things?

Helen is going to Hawaii, on vacation with David. Although she hires a babysitter, the sitter bails on the first day. Adam, Sharon and Josh decide not to tell Helen and live on their own for a week. This includes a party on Saturday night.

Sharon takes over the school newspaper advice column as the anonymous 'Miss Understanding'. When the column becomes a hit, Sharon becomes convinced of her advice-giving abilities and Nina takes advantage of the' anonymous' position and claims credit for it. When Sharon's 'words of wisdom' cause a rift between Brock and Alden--thereby breaking up the band-- Sharon has to undo the damage. And, if that weren't bad enough, Maria has just become Mangled Metal's unofficial manager. In the end Sharon realizes she needs to learn a lot more about life before she can go around giving advice.

Richard reconnects with an old friend, Lauren. They soon start dating and Sharon is not very happy about this.

Adam needs to decide which major he is going to choose but he doesn't know what he likes to do except for wrestling. Sharon wishes to become a vet but she is not very good at biology. To get back, she messes with Adam's choice.

On spring break, Helen's old friend, Marsha, comes around. Sharon needs to hang out with Marsha's daughter, Genesis, who's a fan of Mangled Metal. Pretty soon Genesis becomes popular among Sharon's friends.

Sharon has to wear a new accessory for her braces. To get back at Nina, she helps spreading the rumor that Nina has gotten a nose job over spring break.

Sharon and her classmates each need to take care of a life-size baby doll to learn how to handle parenting.

Josh really wants a shinny purple suit for his performance. Sharon gets into perfumes until she learns the perfume company does animal testing. She tries to get in touch with them but she's being avoided. So she starts protesting.

Maria, Sharon and Brock go to Italy, to visit Maria's maternal grandparents, who are strict. Sharon starts flirting with their neighbor, Marcelo. In the end she learns Italy is different than home.

Sharon must prove she's not girly. She therefore founds a band, X-Sisters, with Alyson and Maria and enters a girl band competition. Motivated by finance issues, Mangled Metal enters the contest too, wearing girl clothes.

Maria gets Sophie make Brock drink 17 banana smoothies in a row. Connor does things with Alyson. Alden is busy with Marlo. And Sharon - just wants to have fun, even if this means losing her best friend.
