The Diary of Anne Frank

June 1942. Living in Amsterdam under Nazi occupation, young Jewish girl Anne Frank receives a diary for her 13th birthday. Days later, her family goes into hiding in the attic of her father’s factory, and they are shortly joined by friends, Mr. and Mrs. Van Daan and their teenage son, Peter.

October 1942. The families have largely grown used to living in the secret annex, even with all the strict rules they must adhere to for their safety. However, clashing personalities cause conflict, and then they welcome a new refugee, Mr. Dussell, to the fold.

November 1942. Anne squabbles with her roommate, Mr. Dussell, over his domestic habits, and she also grows irritated with the Van Daans. Peter teases her, but she finds solace from her troubles by writing. As food shortages grow worse, Bep from the office joins them for lunch every day and bonds with Anne.

June 1943. Anne’s 14th birthday is a modest affair, but she is very excited to receive a bar of chocolate. As she matures, Anne starts to view Peter in a different light and begins a flirtation with him under the watchful eyes of both their families.

May 1944. The fugitives are terrified to awake one night to the sounds of a break-in downstairs. After the incident, the residents of the attic try to keep their spirits up, especially when they learn of the D-Day invasion. Encouraged by her family, Anne begins to prepare her diary for publication. Then one fateful day changes everything.
